But here’s the number buried in the hype: 63% of vibe coders are now non-developers. That 520% year-over-year growth in non-technical users means the majority of people building have no mental model for what happens after the demo works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I talk to these people every day. SMB owners, operators, department leads who saw an opportunity to build something without waiting six months for a dev shop to quote them $80K. They’re right to be excited. But when they hit the production wall, authentication, data persistence, security, deployment, they don’t need a better prompt. They need an entirely different set of knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The $6.6 billion prototype machine is extraordinary at making prototypes. What it wasn’t built to do is ship production software that handles real customer data, survives real traffic, and passes real compliance requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Veracode found 45% of AI-generated code contains security vulnerabilities. The Cloud Security Alliance documented a 322% increase in privilege escalation paths year over year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tools got funded because they solve the first problem: getting started. But the second problem, getting finished, is where the actual value gets created or destroyed. That problem hasn’t attracted a single $330 million funding round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
